With food insecurity on the rise, more and more families are relying on food pantries across the state.

On Wednesday, May 17, our news team will be at Fred Meyer, to help out Feeding Umpqua.

If you want to shop in advance, food banks tell us some of the most needed items include:

• Canned tuna and chicken
• Chili, stew, soups, and canned meals
• Peanut butter
• Nuts and dried fruits
• Canned fruits and vegetables
• Cereal, oatmeal, protein bars
